The outcome
Connecting their home to the garden, we removed the back wall of the kitchen; installing a minimal yet traditional country kitchen extension in shades of yellow and brown wood. Brand new skylights brought in much-needed light, in addition to new French doors; a welcoming space that would be both cool in Summer and warm in Winter.
